Gay For Good DFW Volunteers at the Equest Therapeutic Horsemanship Facilities in Rowlett (Gay For Good DFW)
More than a dozen volunteers with the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of Gay For Good gathered this weekend at the Equest Therapeutic Horsemanship center in Rowlett, Texas, to assist with grounds cleanup efforts. Equest provides Therapeutic Sports Riding classes and Hippotherapy to approximately 500 riders annually with the help of 35 horses, 12 certified riding instructors and more than 700 volunteers who provide 35,000-plus hours of direct service each year.
Since its founding in 1981, Equest, the first therapeutic riding program in Texas, has become one of the largest nonprofit therapeutic riding centers in the state. The organization serves children and adults with all types of physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities through specialty programs such as Hooves for Heroes, which is devoted to improving the lives of military service men and women.
